Premier League 2021-22: From Grealish, Sancho in Manchester teams to Rafa Benitez in Everton, 5 things fans must know- The wait is finally over and the Premier League is back. With so many new signings and new managers, the 2021-22 Premier League season is one to watch. Brentford hosts Arsenal to kickstart the campaign. However, the talk of the 1st game week will be Tottenham vs Manchester City as fans wait to see whether or not Harry Kane will play against the club that has been trying to acquire his signatures. Here are 5 things the fans can be excited about:

1. Fans are back:

Match-going Premier League fans will spend £1.3 billion to support their club this season | Express.co.uk

While the league saw a small section of fans return to the stadium, which was better than having no fans at all.

It was nowhere close to what Euros displayed. The Euros showed how much of an effect the fans can have on the teams playing. With no constraints in place, stadiums will be packed again.

The last full ground in the top-flight was Leicester’s game against Aston Villa on March 9, 2020. It is true that fans make the atmosphere electric and that is what will happen when Arsenal takes on the newly promoted Brentford.

2. English stars join Manchester rivals

Manchester United fans name double transfer regret after Jadon Sancho goal for England - Manchester Evening News

Ahead of the next season, The Cityzens have roped in Aston Villa’s star Jack Grealish. Signing the 25-year-old attacker for a record British fee of £100m, Pep Guardiola has one of the best possible squads in the league at his disposal. They have boosted the team by signing the English international and look to defend their title in the upcoming campaign.

The Red Devils have been on a hunt for a right-winger over the last few years. They have finally managed to end their wait and acquire the services of former Manchester City star Jadon Sancho.

The ex-Dortmund star has been amongst the brightest players in the English football setup. Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been behind his services since 2019 and now has finally gotten him.

3. Ex-Liverpool manager at Everton

Everyone thought that Carlo Ancelloti will be able to do something special at Everton. However, it did not go as planned for the Italian. After his abrupt departure to Real Madrid, Everton search for a new manager.

However, with mixed emotions, just like Chelsea fans had for him when he managed them, Everton fans will feel the same. Benitez is famous for his six-year stint at Liverpool which included the famous 2005 Champions League triumph.

It will be interesting to see if Benitez can improve the record for this Everton side.

4. 9 substitutions on the bench

Premier League substitution rules: How many subs are teams allowed to make? | Football | Sport | Express.co.uk

The Premier League announced that they will allow a total of 9 substitutions instead of 7 on the bench. This will give the managers more choice to adapt to the game when required. This will also increase the matchday squad from 18 to 20.

However, unlike European competitions and some other top-flight leagues, only 3 substitutions will be allowed, plus 2 concussion substitutes if needed.

While some might argue that this will favor top teams with a better squad, it is also true that this will help the youth squad get more opportunities as we progress into the season further.

5. Tuchel to compete with Pep for the title?

Thomas Tuchel has outmanoeuvred Pep Guardiola once with Chelsea - he knows he can do it again

Thomas Tuchel has taken the rabbit out of the hat, taking the Chelsea side who were not performing well under Lampard to putting them into the FA Cup Finals and more importantly, winning the club’s 2nd UEFA Champions League trophy.

Furthermore, with the latest addition of Romelu Lukaku, Chelsea has an attack to be scared of. While some thought that defense will be a bigger problem for Chelsea, it was quite the opposite. Rudiger and Thiago Silva were in great form.

Chelsea lacked in finishing and converting chances, even with an attack that had Timo Werner, Christian Pulisic, Kai Havertz, and Hakim Ziyech. Chelsea got the better of Manchester City twice when it mattered.
