Pokimane hits out at Twitch fans’ views of attractive female Twitch streamers- In a recent Livestream, Twitch streamer Imane ‘Pokimane’ Anys addresses a sensitive yet heated topic that seems to be the archetypal perception of Gen z. She points out the pretense that Twitch fans flaunt when it comes to female content creators’ physical appearance and their creative skills.
Pokimane has been going through a lot of hate and gender discrimination online, over the last couple of weeks. This all started with her getting banned for reacting to copyrighted content, followed by a hate raid launched against her by fellow streamer JiDion. Time and again she has raised her voice against misogynistic comments, and these online trolls haven’t been able to silence her. Amidst this, came her take on how a female streamers’ attractiveness is used as a tool to belittle her.

While Pokimane didn’t try to prove that skills should be the ultimate judging parameter, rather pointed out that good looks do not harm anyone. She further elaborated on her perspective.
“Why is it that people like to hold how attractive someone is against them,” said Poki. “ People would be like your viewers only like the way they look, and they want to f**k you. For starters, that’s rude and gross. Nobody asked”, she added
However, she also doesn’t see the big deal about it. “Even if people do find a female streamer attractive, what’s the issue? What’s wrong with finding someone hot?” To illustrate her point, she claimed that famous male actors have fanbases filled with girls who find them attractive. “Who the f**k ever cares,” she mocked. “No one goes to them and says your fanbase thinks you’re cute.” She talked about the double standards that only women have to face. “Why is that used as a means to discredit female streamers’ work? That is what I don’t understand. They never go you’re a sh*t actor because your audience thinks you’re cute.”
Though she wasn’t explicitly talking about herself, but given the beauty that she is admired for, it won’t be a surprise if she has faced such discrimination earlier. Moreover, Pokimane wanted to clarify that a person’s beauty doesn’t add to or lessen his/her skills or ability to work.
