Pokemon GO is an augmented reality mobile game where players have to travel in the real world to different locations and catch Pokemons. This emulates the in-game story where the protagonists travel the world to catch different Pokemons.
When a radio call for backup came for the two police officers, Louis Lozano and Eric Mitchell, for a robbery case, both of them ignored the call for approximately 20 minutes. Another police officer Capt Davenport went to the location where the backup was needed. On the way, he saw the police car of the two officers reverse down the alley and leave the area.

While both the officers claimed that they did not hear the backup call, when a further investigation was done, the evidence showed something else. The in-car camera footage revealed they had discussed the call and decided not to respond to the incident. Moreover, after five minutes, they were talking about Pokemons and Officer Mitchell told Officer Lozano to 46th and Leimert for a Snorlax that just spawned at that location.
They then moved towards the discussed location and talked about capturing Snorlax and battling with another Pokeman called Togetic.
Both the police officers were fired after a board investigation found them guilty, misconduct, and negligence of duty. While they went to the court with their case, it was rejected there as the court ruled that the punishment did not violate the rights of the police officers.
