For some time, it was thought that he will be a Test specialist, but Boult has managed to succeed in all formats of the game.
Trent Boult’s International Debut: Boult first appeared on the international scene in 2011. It was an auspicious start as he was part of a rare Kiwi Test win on Australian soil. That match was dominated by a different swing bowler – Doug Bracewell. But while Bracewell faded away, Boult has gone on to achieve great things.
Trent Boult’s Test Record: Though Boult made his debut in Australia in 2011, it was in West Indies next year that his true potential came to light. After some encouraging performances, Boult became a very consistent wicket-taker and almost unstoppable in home conditions.
Trent Boult’s ODI Record: Flat wickets in lack of swing was expected to derail Boult’s career. But with the introduction of two new balls, and his great adaptability, Boult has proven to be successful in the 50-over format and was one of the stars of New Zealand’s campaigns in the 2015 and 2019 World Cup.
Trent Boult’s T20 Record: Despite the expectations of almost everyone, Boult has been able to become a very competent bowler even in the shortest format. Here too, he is most deadly with the new ball but managed to make an impact even with the old. 46 wickets in 34 matches is impressive but his economy rate is a bit high.
Trent Boult’s IPL Record: The Kiwi seamer was ordinary in his first three seasons of IPL but came into his own during the 2018 edition. By shifting to Mumbai Indians from Delhi Capitals, Boult has formed a very potent combination with Jasprit Bumrah.
