Fans return to the stadium: This season, the PKL is ready to welcome kabaddi fans back into the stadium. This will be after three years that fans will be able to witness the kabaddi matches inside the stadium.

Triple Headers:  On the first three days of the season, there will be a gala opening with triple headers. Each match is different in the schedule for the first 66 matches, and viewers will get to see all 12 teams play in the first two days alone. Throughout the league stage of the ninth PKL season, fans will also be entertained with tripleheaders every Friday and Saturday.

Costliest Player: Tamil Thalaivas went all out in the auctions, as they broke the bank and splurged an astounding Rs 2.26 crore on Pawan Kumar Sehrawat. Pawan is PKL’s one of the most formidable and seasoned players.

Pawan has been the greatest raider throughout the last three PKL seasons. And rightly so, he has now also become the most expensive player in league history.

Pawan former side Bengaluru Bulls also spend big money on Vikash Hooda to fill in the massive hole. With Vikash Kandola set to script a new chapter for the Bulls, and with the big boots of Pawan Serahwat to be filled, a lot is riding on the star raider as he starts his journey with his new franchise. Bengaluru Bulls left no stone unturned in their efforts to sign Vikash Kandola, with a raging bidding war with the Tamil Thalaivas to get his services for a whopping Rs. 1.70 crore.

Vikash has consistently scored over 170 raid points over the past 3 seasons, making him one of the top 5 raiders in the PKL since Season 6.

Meanwhile, Guman Singh emerged as the most expensive player in Category B at the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) auction in Mumbai. The prolific raider was picked up by U Mumba for a whopping INR 1.21 crore. Overall, he was the third-most expensive buy.

Pre-season form: At the Transtadia in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, during the 36th National Games, PKL players shone for their sides in some exhilarating kabaddi action. Teams competed in the men’s and women’s events of the kabaddi competition from September 26 to October 1. Both the men’s and women’s finals were fiercely contested matches that were ultimately won by Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh, respectively.

The main takeaway was Rahul Chaudhari’s triumphant return as the original Showman who led Uttar Pradesh to victory. Rahul participated in just seven games during the PKL 8 and scored 13 points for Puneri Paltan. At the player auctions in August, Jaipur Pink Panthers paid his base price of 10 lakhs to sign him for this season.

Defending champions Dabang Delhi: Dabang Delhi will aim to become only the second team to defend their title. But a lot will depend on how the defence holds. The current champions, Dabang Delhi, have once more chosen an all-defense strategy. There is no reason to believe it won’t work this time if it did the last time for coach Krishan Hooda’s side. Sixty percent of the 20-player Delhi squad, captained by Sandeep Dhull and Ravi Kumar, are defenders.

Other Finalist of PKL Season 8: In order to score raid points, the Patna Pirates will rely on Sachin Tanwar and Rohit Gulia. Additionally, the Pirates have a new coach in Ravi Shetty, who led U Mumba to the PKL 2 championship. Three-time champions and last season’s finalist Patna Pirates have also retained Iranian powerhouse Mohammadreza Chiyaneh.

New coaches at the helm: Ram Mehar Singh, the most successful coach in the PKL, took Manpreet Singh’s post as coach of the Gujarat Giants. He led the Patna Pirates to three championships, and he’ll be hoping to break the Giants’ final curse.

Rakesh Kumar has now been replaced as Haryana Steelers’ head coach by Manpreet, and Bengal Warriors, the PKL 7 champions, have named K Baskaran as their head coach. Puneri Paltan, who had a successful season last year, replaced Anup Kumar as coach with BC Ramesh, and Telugu Titans will be led by Venkatesh Goud.

At U Mumba, Anil Chaprana has been named head coach.

The home team for the first leg: Given that a substantial portion of their games will be played at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru, the Bengaluru Bulls will be eager to get started after making some significant alterations to their team’s setup. New arrival, Vikash Kandola will have some massive, shoes to fill as Pawan Sehrawat is not on Bull’s side this season.

After saying their goodbyes to Pawan Sehrawat, who served as captain for the previous two seasons, the team named defender Mahender Singh as their new captain. The newly chosen captain has been a member of the group for the last four seasons.
