When one talks about Kabaddi in Europe, it is understood, that it would be a group of Indian expats, playing for different countries they live in. But Poland, in this regard is a little different. Apart from the Indian expats, it is the Polish natives, who have been taking part in the sport for some time now, and the results are for everyone to see. Their raider, Piotr Pamulak, was bagged by Bengaluru Bulls in the PKL Auction on Tuesday, for INR 13 Lakh.
Poland at PKL
With this Piotr became only the second player of Polish descent to represent the Pro Kabaddi, after Michal Spiczko in 2015. The latter too had been picked by the Bengaluru Bulls. But Piotr has far greater credentials. He represented his country at the World Cup 2016, and also the Bangabandhu Cup in Bangladesh in 2021. As per a report in Sportstar, he was also adjudged the MVP over there. Piotr Pamulak also featured in the Bangladesh Cup 2022.
Unfortunately, another Poland player failed to get a contract at the PKL Auction – Piotr Gawecki. Further reports suggest that Piotr plies his trade regularly in the British Kabaddi League and beach kabaddi tournaments back home. Although he did not start as a kabaddi player, and was an American football player.
