Strength

In defence, the cover defenders Jaideep and Mohit Nandal were retained by the team ahead of the auction this year. They were the best raiders for the Haryana Steelers in the last edition.

Jaideep in the left cover picked up 54 tackle points. Meanwhile Mohit in the right cover, bagged 44 tackle points for the side last year. The settled combination in the covers yet again be a vital cog for the side in the upcoming season.

Meanwhile in raiding too there are lot of options. The team picked Siddharth Desai for 1 crore at the auction this year. He will be the leader of the pack. There will also be ample support for him in Chandran Ranjith, Prapanjan and Vinay.

Weakness

In Jaideep and Mohit Nandal, Haryana Steelers have a great combination in the covers in defence. However their corners lack experience.

Rahul Sethpal and Himanshu Choudhary were picked up at the auction this year. Playing for a new team it remains to be seen how they gel with the cover defenders and perform in the upcoming season.

Opportunity

After struggling for two seasons, this seasons gives an opportunity for both Siddharth Desai and Chandran Ranjith to reclaim their position among the best raiders in the league.

They were show faith by the team management. It is now upon them to deliver as Haryana Steelers look to win their maiden title.

Also in defence, while there is a settled cover combination, there is an opportunity for the other defenders to seal their spots in the corners. Coach Manpreet will want youngsters Rohit Sethpal, Himanshu, Ravindra Chauhan, Harsh and Sunny to utilise the opportunity and show their worth.

Threat

While on paper, the team has a solid raiding department, their form remains a concern. Siddharth Desai has been injury-prone in the last two editions of the league. He will enter the upcoming season after a long lay-off so his form remains a concern.

Meanwhile for Chandran Ranjith, this is the fourth team in four seasons. In the last two seasons he managed to pick up just 80 and 95 raid points and has struggled with his form.

Both the raiders will have to play a vital role for the team’s success this season. However if they fail to step up then it will be a threat to the team’s chances of finishing on top-half of the table.
