The Professional Fighters League (PFL) has a season-based organizational structure, which is the primary distinction between the PFL and the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). The PFL website states that there are six weight classes of elite MMA athletes competing in the PFL Season, including the first-ever women’s division at 155 pounds. Each fighter competes in two matches during the PFL Regular Season.

Based on how they perform, fighters receive points for the regular season, with a win earning three points and additional points for knockouts and submissions. According to their total points, each competitor is subsequently seeded in the weight class standings. 

The PFL Playoffs, which feature single-elimination, follow the Regular Season and culminate in the PFL World Championship. The winners of each title match are proclaimed the PFL World Champions in their particular weight class and receive $1 million in prize money.

In addition to being broadcast to 160 other countries worldwide on premium sports networks, PFL matches are televised live in prime time on ESPN, ESPN+, and ESPN Deportes in the United States.

Why did Jake Paul decide to join the PFL?

In an exclusive video, ‘The Problem Child’ explained why he joined the PFL. He stated, “I love the PFL and everything they stand for. They are the only MMA organization with an in-season format.”

He added, “So, just like the NFL or the NBA, PFL has a regular season, then the playoffs, and then the championship each year. So if you keep on winning, you keep on advancing. This means the best fighters fight the best fighters.”
