1st World Cup Title in 1958 as 17 year old: The Pele World Cup story began in fairytale style in 1958. Brazil won the Jules Rimet trophy for the first time. The 17-year-old rookie, who had never travelled by plane before, thought his selection for the trip to Sweden was a MISTAKE.

  • He became the youngest player ever at a World Cup.
  • He scored six goals in four appearances – His haul included a semi-final treble against France and two in the final against the hosts.
  • A hat-trick in his first World Cup: His first goal of the tournament – in the 1-0 quarter-final win over Wales – would be just a taster of what was to come in the semis, when he struck a second-half hat-trick to blow away France 5-2.

2nd TITLE came in 1962 & 3rd in 1970
