At the age of 22 years, the senior batter became the youngest player to captain an IPL side. In IPL 2011, in the absence of Daniel Vettori, Kohli captained RCB for three matches to hold the record for youngest captain in IPL history. In 2021, Virat decided to step down as the RCB skipper but to continue as a batter. Before this encounter, Kohli had led RCB in 140 games and won 64 matches.
“Nothing I’m not used to. Faf potentially cannot field because of his rib so he’ll be playing for us as an impact player today and he will be switching between batting and bowling with Vyshak Vijaykumar. We got exactly what we wanted. We decided we’re gonna bat first try and use the conditions to our advantage initially,” Kohli said at the toss.
Looks a brilliant track to bat on. And in the later half as well the ball does get stuffed up in Mohali and we can really use those side boundaries and put pressure on the opposition,” he added.
