Chasing 188 to win, Chennai Super Kings looked down and out with Robin Uthappa, Mitchell Santner and Shivam Dube all departing in the first phase of the innings. Ambati Rayudu, who did not take the field due to a wrist injury, was the sole hope as he batted like a man possed with Ruturaj Gaikwad anchoring the innings.
Gaikwad fell for 30 but Rayudu marched on scoring a fine half-century and keeping CKS in the hunt. The defending champions were still behind the eight ball needing 70 off the last five, but Rayudu struck 23 off a Sandeep Sharma over to bring the equation down to a gettable 47 off 24.
However, Kagiso Rabada and Arshdeep Singh put an exhibition of death bowling as they piled pressure on the chasers, leaving them to get 27 off the last over. Rishi Dhawan, making his first IPL appearance in five years, kept his nerve and saw his team over the line to an 11-run win.
That’s that from Match 38.@PunjabKingsIPL win by 11 runs.

PBKS vs CSK LIVE: Shikhar Dhawan, Rishi Dhawan star as Punjab hold their nerve to clinch 11-run win – Check Highlights
Earlier, Punjab Kings got off to a stuttery start with both Mayank Agarwal and Shikhar Dhawan struggling to collect runs in the powerplay. Agarwal soon departed trying to raise the tempo and Dhawan was joined by Bhanuka Rajapaksa who returned to the XI for the game.
The two left-handers put on a fine 110-run partnership to set the platform for a grand finish. While they did struggle to score freely initially, Dhawan and Rajapaksa upped the ante and plundered runs in the end, before the Sri Lankan’s dismissal. Liam Livingstone and Jonny Bairstow chipped in with some lusty hits in the final overs as Punjab Kings put on 187 on the board with Shikhar stranded on an unbeaten 88.
