The Pakistan Government have sought a written security assurance to facilitate their cricket team’s participation at the World Cup 2023. A 14-member committee discussed Pakistan Cricket Team’s travel to their neighbours. While the date & venue for the IND vs PAK match was agreed, the PAK Govt have sought guarantees from both the ICC and the BCCI.

As is the case in all India vs Pakistan matters, Babar Azam and Co will need permission from the government to travel to India. The Men in Green last played in India in 2016 during the t20 world Cup. Their last bilateral series was back in 2012.

The panel was formed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to decide on the matter. PCB Chief Zaka Ashraf also attended the meeting, which will be headed by Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari. The committee will send its recommendations to the PM who will make the final call on World Cup 2023 participation.

The 14-member committee, headed by FM Bilawal, comprises Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar, Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Minister of Inter-Provincial Coordination Ehsan-ur-Rehman Mazari, chiefs of the national security institutions, and foreign secretary.

PCB has agreed to play the IND vs PAK in Ahmedabad on October 14. Initially, the game was scheduled to be played on October 15, but was changed due to a clash with Navratri.
