Pakistan Cricket Board: Ramiz Raja vs PCB – Since being forced out, Ramiz Raja is in loggerheads with Pakistan Cricket Board. After days of silence, Raja has launched a scathing attack on the current PCB board, headed by Najam Sethi. He lashed out at the current PCB management, saying they did not even let him take his stuff out of the office. Raja and his entire team got the boot after Pakistan government revised the PCB constitution with a new government taking charge. “They did not allow me to take my stuff out of the office. They don’t have any interest in cricket. The constitution has been bulldozed. It is political victimization and vendetta. There should be no political interference in cricket. The Government of Pakistan removed a Test cricketer from the chairmanship of PCB just to accommodate Sethi. This is a highly disrespectful way of treating your cricketers,” Ramiz Raja said during a YouTube interaction.
With Imran Khan removed as the Pakistan Prime Minister, Ramiz Raja’s days were numbered. It came down crashing after Pakistan’s humiliating 0-3 home Test series loss to England. Raja said Pakistan government forced to change constitution just to accommodate Najam Sethi.
“To accommodate one person, Sethi to be precise, they had to change the entire constitution (of the PCB). I have not seen this anywhere in the world. It has been done in the middle of a season, when teams are visiting Pakistan. They have changed the chief selector, who had played Test cricket. At 2 am at night, Sethi tweets that Ramiz Raja is gone. This is my playing field. It hurts,” Raja said.
“It has been made out as if a messiah has come, who will take the game to new heights. We know what he is up to. He wants limelight at any cost. He has nothing to do with cricket, and has never lifted a bat. They have changed me midway. In the middle of the season they are bringing Micky Arthur. Saqlain Mushtaq’s tenure was ending anyway in January. Saqlain has played over 50 (49) Tests, he is a legend. This is no way to treat the cricketers,” Raja said.
However, despite Raja’s remarks, Sethi said the former Pakistan captain is welcome on commentary duties. “I’ve always respected him, I understand his position, but we will always welcome if he wants to do commentary assignments in the future,” he said.
