PAK vs WI LIVE: Nicholas Pooran displays his bowling prowess, stuns Pakistan in 3rd ODI by taking maiden four-wicket haul – Check Out

Having won the toss and opted to bat first, Pakistan got off to a cautious start with both Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq taking their time in the middle. However, the left-handers caught up with the scoring rate and put on 57 in the first 10 overs, before spin was introduced.

Naturally, a wicket-keeper by trade Nicholas Pooran introduced himself into the attack to complement Hayden Walsh and Akeal Hosein on a slow-turning track. The move paid rich dividends as Pooran cleaned up Zaman with a peach to break a dangerous partnership. Imam meanwhile reached his seventh consecutive 50, but Babar Azam’s luck run out after he was dismissed cheaply. Pooran then weaved his magic as Pakistan slipped from 92/1 to 117/5.

Pooran, who had no wickets previously in his ODI career, finished with figures of 4/48, giving his side the right platform to clinch a win. However, Shadab Khan and Khushdil Shah rebuilt the innings with some patience before a dust storm stopped play. The delay meant that the game was reduced to 48 overs per side.

Post the break, Shadab came all guns blazing even as Pakistan kept losing wickets at the other. The All-rounder scored his fourth ODI fifty and was on the cusp of a century before being dismissed for 86. Pakistan eventually managed 269 in their innings, a par total considering the slowness of the surface.

In response, West Indies lost wickets at regular intervals, even as they kept scoring at a brisk pace. The visiting top 3 were back in the pavilion by the 11th over and the West Indies were always going to find it difficult in the middle overs with spin.

The game looked done and dusted when West Indies slipped to 129/6, but Akeal Hosein scored his maiden ODI fifty to keep their slim hopes alive. Hosein blasted a 37-ball 60, while the rest of the batting faltered, with Shadab again being the wrecker in chief with a four-wicket-haul.
