Rizwan reached this feat in his 52nd inning as he joined Babar Azam on top. Back in April 2021, Men in Green skipper Babar Azam also scored his 2000th run in his 52nd inning during Pakistan’s tour of Zimbabwe.

Additionally, Rizwan outperformed Virat Kohli, who amassed 2000 runs in 56 innings. Pakistani batter also bettered the numbers of India’s vice-captain KL Rahul who also scored his 2000th run on Tuesday. KL reached this feat in his 58th inning in Mohali vs Australia during the first T20 of the three-match series.

Apart from this, Mohammad Rizwan joined Babar, Mohammad Hafeez, and Shoaib Malik as the fourth Pakistani batsman to surpass 2000 runs in T20 Internationals.

Rizwan came into the series against England after scoring the most number of runs in the recently-concluded Asia Cup 2022 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Despite so many runs against his name, he has continuously been criticised by experts for the slow strike-rate and lack of intention.

But his 68-run knock off 46 balls vs England at a strike rate of 147.82 will help him in silencing some of those critics ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup in Australia, next month.

At National Stadium on Tuesday, he scored a half-century off 32 balls. After that, it didn’t take him long to surpass the 2000-run threshold.
