However, the apex cricketing body in Pakistan have now issued a statement, not directly addressing Shahid’s allegations, saying that they have always been and will continue to be responsible for arranging medical care and rehabilitation of all its players requiring any treatment.
An official statement from PCB read: “The PCB is also pleased to advise and update that Shaheen Shah Afridi is making excellent progress in his rehabilitation in London and is on track to make a full recovery in time for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Australia 2022.”
“It goes without saying that the PCB has always been and will continue to be responsible for arranging medical care and rehabilitation of all its players requiring any treatment,” the statement added.
The statement also said that Fakhar Zaman — who had landed awkwardly on his right knee while fielding during the ACC T20 Asia Cup final in Dubai — will depart for London today (Friday) to undergo rehabilitation.
PCB to reimburse Shaheen Shah Afridi
After the aforementioned statement, sources told Pakistan’s Geo TV that the PCB has admitted that Shaheen paid for the ticket from Dubai to London, adding that the pacer and the board have reached an understanding now that his travel and medical expenses for knee ligament injury will be reimbursed later.
