Imam felt some unease in his right hamstring during the second Test

During the third day of the second Test against the Englishmen in Multan, Imam was taken to a hospital for a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan after he “felt unease in his right hamstring”. With Imam missing from the opening duties, wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan opened the second innings for Pakistan alongside Abdullah Shafique.

  • Imam missing from the Pakistani squad might be a big blow for Pakistan.
  • The left-handed batter has scored 229 runs in just four innings.
  • He is averaging 57.25 in the series and is the fourth highest run-getter so far.
  • He stroked an excellent hundred in the first match and stroked 60 runs after coming back from the hospital in the second Test match.

Pakistan are already without their premier pacers

Pakistan pace bowler Naseem Shah was ruled out of the third and final test against England in Karachi later this week due to a niggling shoulder problem. Pakistan are also without injured pacemen Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf. Shaheen injured his knee while fielding during the T20 World Cup in Australia last month.

Rauf meanwhile was initially part of the squad for the England tests. He featured in the opener at Rawalpindi but was ruled out with a thigh injury. The 29-year-old stepped on the ball while fielding on the first day which ended his run with the team.
