India and Pakistan share a longstanding rivalry in sports. Both countries gained independence together and share a common history and civilization. However, after the partition, they embarked on separate paths. India boasts a stronger record in the Olympics, with 35 medals, while Pakistan has secured only ten in its entire Olympic history.

The national hockey team of Pakistan earned bronze in 1992 in Barcelona, their final Olympic medal. Pakistan has won ten medals at the Olympics since it began competing in 1948, with eight of those coming from men’s hockey. The group hasn’t made it to the Olympic Games in the previous two years.

Pakistan’s list of medals in Olympics

Ten medals have been won by Pakistani athletes at the Summer Olympics. In the nine games played between 1956 and 1992, Pakistan’s men’s field hockey team took home eight medals. During a five-year stretch between 1956 and 1972, the team played in five consecutive finals, winning two gold and three silver medals in fast succession.
