Olympics 2024 : Welcome!
The Paris Olympics 2024 would take place in the French capital across different venues for July 26, 2024 to August 11, 2024. While Paris is of course the host city for the Olympics 2024, the Games will be spread in 16 other cities as well. After 1900 & 1924, this will be the third time that Paris will host the Olympics, just the second city after London. The 2024 Olympics are likely to come at a cost over INR 74,000 crore for the host country.
Paris Olympics 2024 is going to be a grand affair with 329 medals at stake in 51 sports. As many as 176 countries will be taking part in the biggest sporting event of the world, with North Korea making a comeback. On the other hand, with Russia and Belarus banned from the Olympics 2024, their athletes will take part as ‘Individual Neutral Athletes’ (AIN). One of the highlights of the 2024 Olympic Games would be the introduction of breakdancing as a sport. Two medals will be up for grabs.

Schedule and results of Olympic Summer Games 2024
While the Olympic events start from July 24 itself, two days prior to the opening ceremony, India’s campaign would start in the pool from swimming on July 27. However, India at Olympics 2024 will truly begin on 28th, when archery events would start, and our archers would be in contention for a medal. Subsequently, the action would move to badminton, shooting, and athletics, where all eyes will be on nation’s toast, Neeraj Chopra.

As far as the timings for the event is concerned, different events of India importance will be aired, as per the respective sports schedule, that will be announced later. Paris is 3.30 hours behind India, and football and rugby sevens matches will start at 6.30 PM IST on July 24.

India at Olympics 2024 will eye a host of medals from a list of 51 sports. Actually, they would be participating in only 16 sports overall, and would be serious medal contenders in about 7-8 of those. Those include javelin throw in athletics, weightlifting, wrestling, boxing, shooting and hockey. Though Indian fans would be eagerly waiting for Los Angeles 2028, where cricket will be included in the Olympics roster for only the second time. The only time it was there at the Games was in 1900. No format has been decided yet, but the men’s and women’s categories could have six teams each.

The last time India won a medal in shooting at the Olympics was in London 2012, but if the contingent can get their hands on two, they can look at 10 medals for sure. The medals of Paris 2024
Paris Olympics 2024 president Tony Estanguet unveiled the medals for the Games in February 2024. The medals will have hexagon-shaped tokens of scrap iron that have been taken from the original construction of the Eiffel Tower, with the Games logo engraved on them. As per the Paris 2024 estimates, as many as 5,084 medals would be produced by Monnaine de Paris. Also, the design came from Chaumet, a luxury jewellery firm in Paris.
Each medal would weigh between 455-529 g, and has a diameter of 85mm, and a thickness of 9.2mm. Interestingly, the gold medals will be made of 98.8 percent silver and 1.13 percent gold. The bronze medals will be made of copper, zinc, and tin.

History of the Olympics
The first modern-day Summer Olympics were held in 1896 in Greece and since then, it’s been held every four years. Over 19 countries, spanning across five continents have hosted the prestigious event, but Africa remains the only one never to host any. As history goes, the first edition saw 250 competitors only, with no women. Women athletes were allowed to compete for the first time, only in 1900. 20 of them participated in croquet, sailing, golf and tennis.
