Sumit Nagal qualifies for Paris Olympics, becomes 2nd Indian to make the cut in singles in back-to-back games

When the International Tennis Federation releases the official entry list on July 4, Nagal—who was originally listed as an alternate—is expected to make the cut because of a number of withdrawals.

Indian Tennis star Sumit Nagal on Saturday took to social media to announce his qualification to the Paris Olympics 2024. Since Leander Paes (1992–2000), Nagal, 26, is only the second Indian player to qualify for the singles event in back-to-back Summer Games editions.

Nagal shares news on social media

“Extremely glad to share that I have officially qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics. This is a monumental moment for me as the Olympics holds a special place in my heart,” said Nagal in a social media post.

“One of my career highlights so far was participating in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Ever since then, Paris has been a big goal for me. Can’t wait to put my best foot forward,” Nagal added.
