Oldest Player in World Cup 2023: Wesley Barresi

At 39 years and 149 days old, Dutch batter Wesley Barresi is the oldest player who will participate in the ODI World Cup 2023. The right-handed batter made his debut in 2010 and, since then, has played 45 matches for his country. Barresi was also a part of the Netherlands 2011 World Cup squad.

Roelof Erasmus van der Merwe (38y 272d)

The second-oldest player also happens to be from the Netherlands. Despite making his ODI debut in 2009, van der Merve has played just 16 matches for his side. This will be the first time the all-rounder will play in an ODI World Cup.

Mohammad Nabi (38y 271d)

Former skipper Mohammad Nabi will play his third consecutive ODI World Cup at the age of 38. Nabi, who is an off-spin all-rounder, made his ODI debut in 2009 and has played 147 matches (a record) for his side.

Nabi also led his side in the 2015 World Cup and helped them gain their first-ever 50-over World Cup win.

Mahmudullah (37y 237d)

The veteran Bangladesh all-rounder has been playing since 2007. This will be Mahmudullah’s fourth consecutive ODI World Cup, from 2011 to 2023.

Ravichandran Ashwin (37y 12d)

Ashwin, the only World Cup winner on the list, will be playing his third ODI World Cup after being selected as a last-minute replacement after Axar Patel’s injury ruled him out.

After winning the Cup in 2011 and reaching the semifinals in 2015, Ashwin was dropped in 2019 but found himself in the reckoning at 37.
