NZ vs ENG HIGHLIGHTS, England win by 267 runs England have defeated New Zealand by 267 runs at Bay Oval to take a 1-0 lead in two-match Test series. Kiwis were all out on 126 runs on Day 4 in their 2nd innings with James Anderson and Stuart Broad scalping four wickets each. NewZealand closed Day 3 at 63/5 after Stuart Broad’s fiery spell. NZ had a stiff target of 394 to win the 1st Test as England posted 374 in their 2nd innings. Joe Root, Ben Foakes and Harry Brook slammed half-centuries while Ollie Robinson piled up more miseries with a 48-ball 39 to stretch England’s lead to 393.

Chasing a stiff target, Kiwis lost the plot completely. They lost their Top 5 for just 28 with Stuart Broad bagging four wickets. Devon Conway (2) was the first to depart. Kane Williamson (0), Tom Latham (15), Henry Nicholls (7) and Tom Blundell (1) all followed suit. At Day 3 stumps, Mitchell is batting on 13 while Bracewell is unbeaten on 25.

 

 

England 2nd Innings: Ben Foakes smashed a quickfire half-century in the 2nd innings. England are in a commanding position on Day 3 with Joe Root and Harry Brook scoring their respective 50s. Ollie Pope and Stuart Broad, the nightwatchman, were the first to depart on Day 3 for tourists. Earlier, England extended their lead to 98 at the end of Day 2 after bowling NewZealand out for 306. England did lose both their openers after an explosive start by Ben Duckett.

Kiwis fought back with Devon Conway smashing 77 and Tom Blundell scoring a fine 138. But Ollie Robinson’s 4/84 and James Anderson’s 3/36  helped Ben Stokes & Co bowl NZ out for 306 and take a narrow 19-run first-innings lead.

England dominated Day 1 of the NZ vs ENG 1st Test courtesy of fine knocks from Ben Duckett and Harry Brook. After losing Zak Crawley early, Duckett and Ollie Pope stitched together 99 run partnership before Duckett departed for 84 runs.  Harry Brook and wicketkeeper Ben Foakes stitched together 89 run stand before Brook was dismissed by Wagner for 89 runs. England eventually declared their innings at 325/9.  Neil Wagner was the pick of the bowlers for New Zealand with figures of 4/82.

NewZealand and England played a 2-day warm-up match against each other, which ended as a draw. While batting England posted a massive total of 465 runs in the first inning. Harry Brook smashed a splendid 97 runs off just 71 deliveries. Lawrence and Foakes played well too, scoring 85 and 57 runs respectively. Chasing the total, NewZealand was bowled out on 310 runs. For the Kiwis, Quinn Sunde was the top-scorer with 91 runs. Except for Sunde, no batter could score a half-century.
