Novak Djokovic’s brother confirms that the World No.1 will not be joining the press conference. Novak is currently practising at a tennis court in Melbourne.
Novak Djokovic’s father: Novak had his “human rights taken away”, saying he was not allowed to have contact with friends, his team or his lawyers.
Novak Djokovic’s mother: “I want to thank everyone in the world who stood up and supported him in Melbourne in front of that so-called hotel.”
“This is the biggest win in his career, it is bigger than any Grand Slam,” she says.
“He has done nothing wrong, he hasn’t broken any of their laws. He has been subject to harassment. He fought against the system and the government because he had the right to be there,” she adds.
Djokovic’s brother: “He has been branded in different ways for many years and he has always supported freedom of choice.”
Novak Djokovic’s brother confirmed that the World No.1 returned to training today, and will be joining the presser after a “few minutes on court”.
Novak Djokovic’s brother: “We as a family found it very difficult, we are very emotional about my brother. It’s very difficult to defend Novak and not to offend anyone at the same time. We are fighters for justice and rule of law. We have done everything we could to follow procedures and to show everyone in the world we need to send love to Novak.”
As per BBC, Novak Djokovic and his family will hold a press conference and address the media after he won his VISA battle in court on Monday. Djokovic’s father said that World No.1 will join the family via video link for the planned press conference. The press conference is set to be at 6:30 PM IST and was pushed an hour presumably with Dokvoic getting released from his detention.
As per reports, Djokovic’s father told Serbian press and Sky News that he was arrested as a large number of police officials reached the lawyers’ office with an immigration transport van.
“What we can do is to let this be known all over social media – they want to capture and lock up Novak again. We’re currently consulting with PRs about next steps. He is at the moment with his lawyers in the room they were during the hearing, thinking about options,” Novak Djokovic’s brother Djordje Djokovic told Telegraph.
However, as per Sydney Morning Herald, the report of his arrest has been denied by the government officials.
Australia’s federal minister of immigration Alex Hawke earlier warned that he might use further power to cancel Djokovic’s visa again. It is up to the minister to use his power to use his “personal power of cancellation” even after court ruling.
