Niantic shares their thoughts about the Pokemon GO x Pikmin crossover- Niantic has emerged as the leading mobile game developer that produces augmented reality games for the platform. After the worldwide success of Pokemon Go, the developers have also released Pikmin Bloom last year. Players will find this game similar as it is also an augmented reality game but it focuses on the Pikmin series released in 2001. Many fans from both of these communities have been speculating on a possible crossover between both of these games. Finally, the developers at Niantic have clarified their views on this matter.
Niantic talks about the future possibility of Pokemon GO and Pikmon crossover
We have already seen crossovers between different Nintendo Games in the past. For example, the Super Smash Bros. series and Mario Kart 8 had characters from multiple games like Animal Crossing, Legend of Zelda, Mario, etc. These titles have also been quite popular and successful among the gaming community. Thus, fans wishing for another crossover between popular gaming titles is not a new thing.

Another main reason why fans from both the game communities had been looking forward to a crossover is that the next Pokemon GO Community Day coincided with the next Pikmin’s Community Day. Thus, fans speculated if there was an event that allowed players from both games to interact with one another.
In one of the latest interviews with Gamespot, Michael Steranka, the Live Games Director of Niantic was asked a question regarding the possibility of a Pokemon x Pikmin crossover in the future as both of these games have been developed by Niantic for the mobile platforms. He stated, “As of right now, that’s not something we’re currently exploring.” Later in the interview, he also provided the reason for not focusing on such a concept currently as they, “don’t want a player to have to decide which game they’re playing.”
Although Niantic does not wish for a crossover to happen currently, fans have at least provided the developers with what they hope to see within both of these games.
