Netizens roast Pakistan Cricket for not including major players on Independence Day video

The video uploaded by Pakistan Cricket on Twitter did not include Imran Khan, who was their first captain to win World Cup in 1992

Pakistan Cricket: On August 14 Pakistan celebrated its 76th year of independence. As always Pakistan Cricket uploaded a video on Twitter remembering iconic moments in their cricketing journey. From the 1992 World Cup win to 2009 T20 World Cup, all poignant moments were covered. However, Pakistan fans were left unimpressed as the video did not shed light on any of the major players like Imran Khan, Wasim Akram, Shahid Afridi, and Babar Azam.

The two minutes twenty-second video rather captured Pakistan’s magical moments like Javed Miandad’s six off the final ball in 1986 against India, Inzamam-ul Haq’s contribution in the 1992 WC, Pakistan co-hosting 1995 WC, Pakistan winning Asia Cup in 2012, and the team winning Champions Trophy in 2017. It also sheds light on Pakistan’s recent final appearance in T20 World Cup 2022.

As soon as the video went viral many notable former players and fans expressed their displeasure. Former PAK women’s player Urooj Mumtaz questioned the absence of WC-winning captain Imran Khan from the video. Taking to Twitter, Mumtaz wrote,

“Reminiscing in Pakistan crickets history, 11 images of the 1992 World Cup win and not one pic or mention of the greatest that ever played the game for the country!

Another fan wrote, “No matter how hard they try, they can’t take Imran Khan out.” Another user commented by saying, Beg to differ!

“In every single match, they won. So in my view, Wasim is the greatest cricketer, although Imran was a better captain, Wasim was a better bowler, and far better fielder, and even in batting, his strike was more than 88 compared to Imrans 72 in limited overs.”
