Neeraj Chopra wins Gold: Sunil Gavaskar and Ashish Nehra dance to celebrate Neeraj Chopra’s historic Gold medal in Tokyo Olympics – Neeraj Chopra created history on Saturday as he became the first Indian athlete to win the gold medal in track and field events after he bagged the top podium spot in the Men’s javelin throw finals at the Tokyo Olympics. The entire country in celebrating the medal and following the trend India’s former cricketer Sunil Gavaskar and Ashish Nehra, who doing commentary on India’s tour of England, celebrated Neeraj Chopra’s gold by dancing in the studio.

In the studio, former India cricketer Sunil Gavaskar can be seen singing the song “Mere Desh Ki Dharti” and dancing on it. While Nehra could not keep calm and was seen dancing in front of the TV watching Neeraj win Gold.

Earlier, Indian football star Sunil Chetri also posted a video of himself celebrating the Neeraj Chopra’s Gold.

He called Neeraj King of India. “KING of India, take a bow!@Neeraj_chopra1,” he wrote in the caption of the video.

Neeraj began his quest for the medal with a massive throw of 87.03 meters and was leading the pack after the end of the first attempt. He bettered it with the second throw of 87.58m. While he wasn’t able to improve any further, it was enough to get him the coveted medal. He is now the second Indian after Abhinav Bindra to win a gold medal in individual events.

As a result of this win, India has now won seven medals in the multi-sporting event. In the ongoing Tokyo 2020, Bajrang Punia (Bronze), Mirabai Chanu (silver), PV Sindhu (bronze), Lovlina Borgohain (bronze), men’s hockey team ( bronze), and Ravi Kumar Dahiya (silver) have also won medals.

Neeraj had announced his arrival in style in the Tokyo Olympics on Wednesday when he threw a monstrous throw of 86.65m and automatically qualified for the final after just his first attempt. The Indian javelin thrower had a personal best of 88.07 metres which was also his season-best before starting his Olympics campaign.
