Neeraj, however, did manage to win gold in the Kuortane Games a couple of days later with a throw of 86.69.
Ahead of the World Championships, Stockholm Diamond League was his chance to get to the 90m mark. But he missed that mark by a whisker. His first throw of 89.94m was enough for him to bag the silver but he could not get to the long-awaited 90m mark.
But with a strong field competing in Sweden, the Olympic champion had some excellent warm-up for the World Championships slated to start on July 15.
Who did Neeraj Chopra compete against?
- Anderson Peters (93.07m personal best)
- Julian Weber (89.54m)
- Jakub Vadlejch (90.88m)
- Olivier Helander (89.83m)
- Kim AMB (86.49m)
- Vitezslav Vesely (88.34)
- Andrian Mardare (86.66m)
Also, four of the javelin throwers on display have thrown the spear longer than Neeraj this season. It just reflects the competitive nature of the Stockholm Diamond League.
