NBA 2020-21: Latest Updates on how much NBA players will earn with their new contracts. Lots of NBA players have changed teams. The NBA trade window, NBA Draft, NBA Free Agency commenced back-to-back with a gap of just 2 days. Find all about the new contracts signed by the players in their current or their new team here.

The NBA also announced that the 2020-21 season will commence on the 22nd of December and 72 games will be played.

The league also announced a tentative calendar and introduced a new format for the new season to decide which teams will make the NBA playoffs.

The NBA trade moratorium period was lifted 2 days prior to the NBA Draft, on the 16th of November. There will be pre-season games from the 11th of December to the 19th of December prior to the start of the 2020-21 season.

We have seen the likes of Chris Paul move to the Phoenix Suns, Gordon Hayward to Charlotte Hornets, and Montrezl Harris shifting from LA Clippers to the LA Lakers.

Latest contract details of NBA players, according to Keith Smith:

Willie Cauley-Stein in the Dallas Mavericks

The Dallas Mavericks used part of the Non-Taxpayer MLE to sign Willie Cauley-Stein to a two-year contract:

2020-21: $4,100,000

2021-22: $4,100,000 (team option)

Tyrell Terry in the Dallas Mavericks

The Dallas Mavericks used part of the Non-Taxpayer MLE to sign Tyrell Terry to a four-year contract, with additional money in Year 1:

2020-21: $1,289,846

2021-22: $1,517.981

2022-23: $1,782,621

2023-24: $1,930,681 (team option)

Juancho Hernangomez in the Minnesota Timberwolves:

Juancho Hernangomez’ new deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves has a non-guaranteed final season:

2020-21: $6,493,000

2021-22: $7,012,440

2022-23: $7,531,880

2022-23 is non-guaranteed, becoming fully guaranteed on 6/30/22.

Marcus Morris in the LA Clippers:

Marcus Morris’ new contract with the LA Clippers is fully guaranteed for four years.

2020-21: $14,883,721

2021-22: $15,627,907

2022-23: $16,372,093

Malik Beasley in the Minnesota Timberwolves:

The Minnesota Timberwolves have a team option on the final season of Malik Beasley’s new 4-year contract:

2020-21: $13,325,895

2021-22: $14,391,964

2022-23: $15,458,035

2023-24: $16,524,106 (team option)

LA Lakers dismiss stretching Quinn Cook’s salary:

As part of their roster moves, the Los Angeles Lakers reversed course and did not end up stretching Quinn Cook’s salary.
This is because of the JaVale McGee trade and subsequent waiver of Jordan Bell, LA was able to take the full hit for Cook at $1M for the 2020-21 season.

NBA 2020-21: Kentavious Caldwell-Pope in the LA Lakers:

Lakers and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope got creative on his new 3-year contract:

2020-21: $12,073,020

2021-22: $13,038,862

2022-23: $14,004,703

2022-23 is guaranteed for $4,888,118, becoming fully guaranteed if Caldwell-Pope is not waived on/before the 28th of June, 2022. No options for the team or player this time around!

Fred VanVleet in the Toronto Raptors:

Fred VanVleet’s 4-year deal with Toronto includes a dip for 2021-22.

2020-21: $21,250,000

2021-22: $19,675,926

2022-23: $21,250,000

2023-24: $22,824,074 (player option)

NBA 2020-21: Danilo Gallinari in the Atlanta Hawks:

Danilo Gallinari has some non-guaranteed money (previously reported) at the end of his three-year deal with the Hawks:

2020-21: $19,500,000

2021-22: $20,475,000

2022-23: $21,450,000

Final season is $5M guaranteed, becoming fully guaranteed if he’s not waived on/before 6/29/22.

Chris Boucher in the Toronto Raptors:

Chris Boucher’s deal with the Toronto Raptors includes a non-guaranteed second season.

2020-21: $6,500,000

2021-22: $7,020,000

2021-22 will become guaranteed if Boucher is not waived on/before 2 days after the 2021 moratorium.

NBA 2020-21: Furkan Korkmaz in the Philadelphia 76ers:

Furkan Korkmaz’s contract with the Philadelphia 76ers became fully guaranteed for the 2020-21 season yesterday.

He’s on the Sixers books for $1,762,796.

Steve Adams in the New Orleans Pelicans:

The contract values for Steven Adams’ extension with the New Orleans Pelicans are:

Adams just finished the third year of a four-season, $100 million contracts. He is owed $27.5 million going in 2020-21.

2021-22: $17,073,171

2022-23: $17,926,829

Adams has a new 7.5% trade bonus on the extension. He previously had a 7.5% trade bonus but is expired upon his trade from the Thunder to the Pelicans.

NBA 2020-21: Bol Bol in the Denver Nuggets:

Bol Bol got part of the Non-Taxpayer MLE from the Denver Nuggets for his two-year contract:

2020-21: $2,058,240

2021-22: $2,161,152

Both years are fully guaranteed.

Christian Wood in the Houston Rockets:

Christian Wood’s deal with the Houston Rockets (via Sign and Trade) is fully guaranteed for three years:

2020-21: $13,015,874

2021-22: $13,666,667

2022-23: $14,317,459

NBA 2020-21: Goran Dragic in the Miami Heat:

Goran Dragic’s contract with the Miami Heat is for 2 years:

2020-21: $18,000,000

2021-22: $19,440,000 (team option)

The second year of Dragic’s deal is not guaranteed, preserving the Heat’s flexibility for free agency in 2021-22. Last season Dragic averaged 16.2 points, 5.1 assists, and 3.2 rebounds in 59 regular-season games, shooting 44.1% from the field and 36.7% from the 3-point line.

Rodney Hood in the Portland Trail Blazers:

Rodney Hood’s contract with the Portland Trail Blazers is for 2 years:

2020-21: $10,047,450

2021-22: $10,851,246

2021-22 is non-guaranteed. It becomes fully guaranteed if Hood is not waived on or before the 23rd of June, 2021. Portland protects themselves while giving Hood a nice bump for 2020-21.

NBA 2020-21: De’Anthony Melton in the Memphis Grizzlies:

De’Anthony Melton’s deal with the Memphis Grizzlies is a descending contract:

2020-21: $9,571,712

2021-22: $8,805,976

2022-23: $8,250,000

2023-24: $8,000,000

Final year is $1,500,000 guaranteed. It becomes fully guaranteed if Melton is not waived on/before the 3rd of August 2023.

DeAndre’ Bembry in the Toronto Raptors:

DeAndre’ Bembry’s contract with Toronto is for two years at the minimum. The second season is non-guaranteed and will become fully guaranteed 4 days after the 2021 moratorium.

John Kochar in the Memphis Grizzlies:

John Konchar’s 4-year contract with the Memphis Grizzlies is a bit interesting:

2020-21: $2.1M

2021-22: $2.2M

2022-23: $2.3M

2023-24: $2.4M

2022-23 is guaranteed for $840K, becoming fully guaranteed on the 3rd of August, 2023. 2023-24 is non-guaranteed.

NBA 2020-21: Joe Harris in the Brooklyn Nets

Joe Harris’ new deal with the Brooklyn Nets is for 4 years:

2020-21: $16,071,429

2021-22: $17,357,143

2022-23: $18,642,857

2023-24: $19,928,571

Each season contains $500,000 in bonuses linked to games played, playoff games played, and team performance.

Davis Bertans in the Washington Wizards:

Davis Bertans’ new 5-year, $80m deal with the Wizards has some protection at the end:

Pat Connaughton in the Milwaukee Bucks:

The Bucks used Pat Connaughton’s Early Bird rights to re-sign him to a three-year deal: 2020-21: $4,938,273
