Manchester United sailed past Leeds United who were recently relegated from the Premier League. The first 45 minutes of the match went goalless. During the half-time break, coach Erik Ten Hag made a plethora of changes. It was the forwards Joe Hugill and Noah Emeran that made the change for the Red Devils as each of them scored a goal to lead them to a 2-0 win. Newcomer Mason Mount made his non-competitive debut for Man United in the match. More new players are expected to arrive at the club.

Man United are still chasing Andre Onana from Internazionale to replace David De Gea who recently left the club after 12 years. They are also seeking a striker and bidding for Rasmus Hojlund. They are trying to bring the players as soon as possible. However, it probably won’t be possible before their upcoming friendly. Then the Red Devils fly to the United States to face Arsenal, Wrexham, Real Madrid, and Borussia Dortmund. They’ll still play two more friendlies against Lens and Athletic Club before they start their Premier League campaign.

While Man United have started showing good form ahead of a tough season, Lyon are still struggling. The 7-time Ligue 1 champions have not succeeded in many years. They have made several changes to the club starting with their President Jean-Michel Aulas who stepped down after 36 years of service. They also changed their coach Peter Bosz last October following a turbulent tenure. Former Red Devils player Laurent Blanc took the reins and turned their fate around with a positive run of form.

Former Arsenal player Alexandre Lacazette went on a streak and ended the season with 27 goals in Ligue 1, just two goals behind the season’s top goalscorer Kylian Mbappe. However, their efforts still fell short as they ended the season in 7th place in the league table. They have started their pre-season tour struggling as they faced the amateur outfit from the Netherlands, De Treffers. However, they narrowly escaped with a 2-1 win. More struggle is still waiting for them as they will face Molenbeek, Celta Vigo, and Crystal Palace following Man United.
