Muller vs Messi: Bayern Munich vs PSG – Thomas Muller has once again taken a dig and this time it’s 7x Ballon d’Or winner, Lionel Messi, on his radar. Bayern Munich dumped PSG out of UEFA Champions League quarterfinals with an aggregate score of 3-0. Messi once again failed to put a performance against the German side and that has put him in the spotlight. Messi has now lost 5 games out of 8 in which he appeared against Bayern Munich. Thomas Muller claimed that against Messi, “things always go well at all levels in terms of results.”  Follow UEFA Champions League Live Updates on InsideSport.IN.

Talking about the results in the post-match press conference, Muller appreciated Messi’s performance in the World Cup and his victory.

“I have the greatest respect for Messi’s World Cup performance. Messi’s individual performance at the World Cup was amazing. He carried the whole squad. It’s not so easy to play at a team like PSG. It’s difficult to get a really good team balance,” Muller said.

But before this, he mentioned that Ronaldo was Bayern’s problem when he was at Real Madrid, and against Messi, the results went in their favour.

He said, “Against Messi, things always go well at all levels in terms of results. At club level, Cristiano Ronaldo was our problem when he was at Real Madrid.

Messi and PSG have now crashed out of UCL with this defeat. With this, PSG’s hope to win the Champions League with Lionel Messi is fading away as the Argentinian is in his last year of the contract. An extension looks unlikely and PSG might build a team around Kylian Mbappe and sign young players, which they did in last summer.

Lionel Messi vs Bayern Munich

Messi has appeared on 8 occasions against Bayern Munich, 6 times while playing for Barcelona and 2 times for PSG. Out of 6, Barcelona only managed to win on two occasions against the German side, and in both matches, Messi scored 2 goals and assisted once. Despite those two games, Messi has no goals or assists against Bayern.

Messi’s last game against Bayern playing for Barcelona was a nightmare, where they were handed a defeat by 8-2. In 5 UCL meetings against Bayern, Messi’s team has ended up losing the tie on three occasions. Considering Messi’s stats and the results of the game, Muller is probably right that Bayern has got results against Messi’s team.
