MS Dhoni Retirement – IPL 2023: As it is rumoured that this will be MS Dhoni’s final Indian Premier League season before hanging up his boots, fans are coming up in huge numbers to see their hero for one last time on the field. This means that no matter who the host team is, the yellow army always seems to follow the legendary CSK skipper. The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) management however has no clue of any plans of MSD to retire anytime soon. When asked the same to coach Stephen Fleming, he gave a bombastic reply.
The Indian Premier League 2023 season has witnessed fans wearing the yellow of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) wherever the four-time winners have played throughout the nation.
Both the captains of the opposing teams and Dhoni himself have confirmed this phenomena. Many claim that the supporters are taking the last chance to say goodbye to the 41-year-old former captain of India. Notably, CSK is playing at Chepauk after 2019 and Dhoni in 2021 had stated that he wouldn’t retire from the IPL until he got the chance to say goodbye to the fans at the Chepauk Stadium.
Due to CSK’s return to their home stadium, he now has the chance to achieve just that.
What Stephen Fleming knows about MS Dhoni Retirement?
It should be emphasised that Dhoni never stated outright that this would be his final campaign, and CSK head coach Stephen Fleming has also denied saying anything to that effect.
When asked if MS Dhoni had mentioned retirement to him, Fleming responded, “No, he hasn’t indicated anything.”
After CSK’s match against Kolkata Knight Riders, Dhoni had stated that the fans at Eden Gardens and other stadiums were saying their goodbyes to him.
Additionally, Dhoni had made the shocking admission that he was “in the last phase of his career” after a previous game.
