MOTO GP BIKES Goes UP in FLAMES – What exactly happened?
- With 15 laps to go in the race, a number of riders crashed as they approached the second corner.
- Eight riders were involved in an a horror crash in Moto2 with one bike bursting into flames.
- Zonta Van Den Goorbergh’s bike was engulfed in a shocking blaze.
- The rest of the field – including previous race leaders Aron Canet, Cameron Beaubier and Ai Ogura – were left watching from the sidelines.
- They all had a fall during the chaos caused by a sudden rain shower, then being unable to get their bikes back to the pits in time.
- Moto GP has confirmed that all riders involved in the mass crash “are conscious.”
Moto GP Results: Fabio Quartararo WINS, now tied at the top of the world championship with Alex Rins
Reigning world champion Fabio Quartararo disappeared into the distance to claim his and Yamaha’s first MotoGP victory since Silverstone last season, during Sunday’s race.
The Frenchman was joined on the podium by Pramac Ducati’s Johann Zarco and Aprilia’s Aleix Espargaro.
Jack Miller fell and took down Joan Mir while trying to pass the Suzuki rider for third.
Combined with title leader Enea Bastianini crashing out, Quartararo is now tied at the top of the world championship with Alex Rins.
Rins made a stunning recovery from 23rd to 4th.
MotoGP now heads straight to Jerez for next weekend’s Spanish Grand Prix.
