Kane’s record-breaking goal came twelve and a half years after Harry Redknapp-era club debut. After a brief stay in the Premier League with Norwich and a loan to Leicester in the Championship, Kane made his Premier League debut in April 2014 and scored his first goal against Sunderland. Kane’s first goal for Tottenham came in the Europa League against Shamrock Rovers in December 2011, a few years previously.
When playing out from the back, Rodri makes a critical mistake by passing the ball straight to Hjbjerg at the edge of the box, who flicks it to Kane for the easy tap-in. On the edge of their own box, City plays themselves into danger, and Hojbjerg does an excellent job of stealing the ball. It is shifted by the Dane to an unmarked Kane in the box. A fairly sloppy finish, but Kane manages to defeat Ederson.
After Alan Shearer with 260 goals and Wayne Rooney with 208, Kane is third among all Premier League goal scorers since the league’s inception in 1992. This season, he has scored 19 goals in 30 games for Spurs, 12 more than his nearest rival Son Heung-min.
