Morgan vs Root: White-ball captain & Joe Root at loggerheads, Eoin Morgan says ‘LAUGHABLE to blame The Hundred and T20 for England’s Ashes humiliation’

Root Blames ‘The Hundred’ – What Root had said? In the aftermath of their embarrassing 4-0 series defeat Down Under, Test skipper Root urged the ECB to ‘prioritise’ his side, implying there has been too much focus on limited-overs cricket since 2015.

Root also called for more red-ball games to be played at the height of the summer when the ECB’s new short-form tournament, the Hundred, currently takes place.

Former Kolkata Knight Riders laughed off the statement by Root.

England one-day captain Morgan also says it is ‘laughable’ to use the Hundred as an excuse for what happened in Australia.

‘It’s laughable to point the finger at the Hundred. The Hundred is an unbelievable success.

‘People need something to blame so they’ll point at probably the furthest point to reality because nobody wants to say, ‘You know what, we’ve not had the prep we’d have liked, we probably haven’t played as we’d have liked, and we’ve lost’.

‘People that use that as an excuse don’t watch cricket,’ he told talkSPORT. ‘Test match cricket has always been the priority – it’s the format for our elite players.

ECB to investigate England’s after party video

England cricket team has come under more fire after it was revealed batting coach Graham Thorpe reportedly filmed the video of police breaking up a gathering of Australian and English players at 6am the morning after the Ashes series finished.

Mobile phone footage shows 4 cops attending an area where Australian players Nathan Lyon, Alex Carey and Travis Head — some of whom were still dressed in their playing whites — were sitting around a table with open beers.

England captain Joe Root and seam bowler Jimmy Anderson are in the video too, while a woman is also part of the group. Now ECB has declared that they are investigating the incident.
