While many cricketers would refrain from sharing images of treatment, Shami has taken to social media to explain the painful treatment he is going through. “Injury, in general, teaches you to appreciate every moment. I’ve had my share of injuries throughout my career. It’s humbling. It gives you perspective. No matter how many times I’ve been hurt, I’ve learned from that injury and come back even more stronger, thanks for your love & support,” Shami wrote on his Instagram.
Shami who returned to India after the T20 World Cup was on a break. Like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, he was en route rejoining the squad for Bangladesh tour. But he suffered a shoulder injury during a training session.
Extremely painful treatment: The star pacer is currently under the supervision of the BCCI Medical Team at the NCA, Bengaluru. But from the images shared by Shami, he is undergoing an extremely painful treatment.
He is taking injections directly to his shoulder muscles to alleviate the pain. He is also taking specialised injections that require ultrasound monitoring.
He will not be able to take part in the three-match series. The All-India Senior Selection Committee has named Umran Malik as Shami’s replacement.
India Squad Bangladesh TOUR – When did Shami got injured? It has been learnt that Shami had suffered the injury during a training session after he returned from Australia. The Indian team made a semifinal exit from the T20 World Cup. Shami could also miss the upcoming two-Test series, beginning in Chittagong from December 14.
The extent of Shami’s injury is not known yet. However, he is likely to miss the Test series with either Arshdeep Singh or Umran Malik set for Test call-up.
The 33-year-old Bengal speedster is an integral part of India’s ODI scheme of things, going into the World Cup next year.

Skipper Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid would be worried if Shami misses the Test series. India need to win every game to stay in contention for the upcoming World Test Championship final at the Oval in June.
“Shami’s absence from three ODI games is definitely a factor. But the bigger worry is his likely absence from Tests. He is supposed to spearhead the attack in Jasprit Bumrah’s absence,” said the source.
