Mo Salah aired his resentment after Liverpool were denied a spot in the Champions League. To remain in the top four spots, Liverpool needed Manchester United to lose to Chelsea on Thursday. Casemiro was the driving force behind Man Utd’s 4-1 victory throughout the match, which they romped to.
Taking to Twitter to vent his fury, Salah said, ‘I’m totally devastated. There’s absolutely no excuse for this. We had everything we needed to make it to next year’s Champions League and we failed. We are Liverpool and qualifying to the competition is the bare minimum. I am sorry but it’s too soon for an uplifting or optimistic post. We let you and ourselves down.’
After a draw against Aston Villa last weekend, Liverpool’s hopes of finishing in the top four were severely dented. A seven-game winning streak was snapped with the 1-1 draw. The Reds have not missed out on qualifying for Europe’s most esteemed competition since 2017.
Reacting to Salah’s tweet, one fan said, ‘King. Always 👑.’ A second typed, ‘We love you, Mo. We go again next season 👊 ❤️.‘ While a third added, ‘We love you Mo. ❤️.’
