Mike Breeden loses UFC contract despite knocking out Anshul Jubli

Breeden entered the octagon on October 21 with a point to prove. Everyone expected the undefeated Indian fighter to steamroll the 34-year-old. However, Breeden was practically fighting for his future with three defeats in his first three UFC fights. And this paid off when he pulled an incredible knockout out of the bag.

However, it appears as though it was not enough. Ariel Helwani from the MMA Hour posted on X to confirm the news. He wrote, “Mike Breeden tells me the UFC won’t be extending his contract at this time. His win at UFC 294 was the last on his deal. He was hopeful the thrilling KO would be enough to get a new deal, but alas he has learned that isn’t the case at the moment.”

Therefore, even Breeden knew he was fighting for a contract at UFC 294. He lost on the Dana White contender series and then had three successive losses to begin his UFC career. Moreover, he is 34-years-old and is not getting any younger. Furthermore, he also missed weight for the UFC 294 fight. Thus, he did not do himself any favors.

In addition, even at UFC 294, Breeden may have got the knockout win. However, he was losing the fight on the scorecards yet again. Thus, the UFC did not see enough to renew his deal, and he now finds himself looking for another promotion.

What do you make of this news? Do you think Mike Breeden did enough to get a new UFC deal? Is the last we see of Breeden in the promotion?
