Puja Tomar sends a strong warning to the UFC strawweight division
The 25-year-old took to social media to share an emotional message to everyone who helped her reach the UFC. She thanked the MFN family, her mother, her family, her gym, and management for making it happen. At the end of the post, she made sure to include a message to her future opponents.
Tomar wrote, “To the UFC, and to all my future opponents. Know that us fighters from India are both fierce and strong, know that we will never give up in the face of danger. Know that I give my word today, that I will show you the strength of our people, FOR my people. We are coming, I am coming, and i have my whole country behind me.”
Therefore, Tomar is evidently ready to put Indian women’s MMA on the world stage. Anshul Jubli is already on his way to becoming a UFC mainstay as he prepares for his first UFC PPV appearance this weekend. And Tomar will hope she follows Jubli.
The strawweight division is extremely competitive. Therefore, if Puja Tomar can do well in the division, it will be a big statement to the world. If she can win the title, it would be enormous for the UFC and the sport in India.
