UFC Workout Plan: How do UFC Fighters train in the gym?

Every fighter will have his own personalized workout plan. This is because each person is different, their bodies behave differently, and each person is training from something different. However, we can divide the typical UFC workout plan into four categories.

Strength and conditioning

Firstly, every UFC Fighter will have a specific strength and conditioning plan. This will be consistent throughout the year, regardless of whether they are in camp or not. This will include short, sharp movements, a lot of functional and dynamic exercises, and light weight exercises.

Endurance and stamina

The second category is the fighters’ endurance and stamina. Fighters have to go through three or five grueling rounds. In order to keep up with this, they will train their endurance and stamina with runs, sprints, bike workouts, etc. This will be low intensity when they are not in camp and will gradually increase in intensity as they approach the end of their camps.

Weight training

Every fighter will include weight training in their workout plan. This will include heavy weights with simple movements. Squats, Bench presses, shoulder presses, rows, etc. are some examples of weight training UFC fighters will do. Unlike stamina and endurance, weight training will be high intensity when the fighters are not in camp and will taper down as they approach fight week.

Recovery and prehab

Finally, the most important category of the UFC workout plan is the recovery and prehab. Every fighter will include this in their workout plan to avoid injuries and recover properly. Most fighters are training every day of the week. Therefore, they will use different recovery methods like stretching, flexibility exercises, cryotherapy, etc to ensure they are in the best shape they can be in.

So the perfect UFC workout plan is one which ticks all of these boxes. While it is difficult to give an exact UFC workout plan, we can be sure that all UFC fighters have these aspects in their workout plans.
