UFC 293 main card preview and prediction

Tyson Pedro vs Anton Turkalj

The main card kicks off with an exciting light-heavyweight clash between Tyson Pedro and Anton Turkalj. Both fighters will want to set their records straight as they enter the octagon on the back of losses. In terms of the physical attributes, they are almost identical. However, the numbers tell a different story. Pedro is a much better striker while Turkalj is a much better grappler.

Our prediction: Anton Turkalj beats Tyson Pedro by decision.

Justin Tafa vs Austin Lane

Heavyweights Justin Tafa and Austin Lane will then compete on the UFC 293 main card. The two fighters are facing each other for the second time after the first one ended in a no contest. Therefore, this could be an exciting fight since they know each other. Austin Lane has the upper hand in terms of the physical attributes. However, in terms of the numbers, they are very similar. Both are striking heavy fighters.

Our prediction: Justin Tafa beats Austin Lane by decision.

Manuel Kape vs Felipe Dos Santos

Highly-rated undefeated Felipe Dos Santos will make his debut at UFC 293. The Brazilian will face experienced Manuel Kape in what will be a tough test. Dos Santos has a slight advantage in the physical attributes. Moreover, we can’t compare their numbers since Dos Santos is making his debut in the UFC.

Our prediction: Felipe Dos Santos beats Manuel Kape by submission.

Tai Tuivasa vs Alexander Volkov

Heavyweights Tai Tuivasa and Alexander Volkov will compete in the UFC 293 co-main event. The two could steal the show and put on a ‘Fight of the Night’ performance. Tuivasa enters the octagon on the back of a loss, while Volkov won his last fight. In addition, the Russian has a huge upper hand in the physical attributes. When it comes to the numbers, they are fairly equal.

Our prediction: Tai Tuivasa beats Alexander Volkov by TKO.

Although all indications suggest that McGregor (22-6 MMA, 10-4 UFC) must first re-enter the USADA testing programme, which necessitates two clean tests spread over six months, before stepping into the cage, he still lists Dec. 16 as the target date for his next bout.

Since The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 31’s premiere broadcast, McGregor has been on-and-off about a fight with Michael Chandler. The fact that the show was on everyone’s mind at the beginning made it very heated, but as the weeks passed, the Irish superstar changed his mind (a few times), and most recently, he wanted to combat the new “BMF.”

The UFC’s president, Dana White, told fight fans earlier this week that McGregor will definitely face Chandler next.

That was confirmed by McGregor during the same interview.
