India’s ace spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has achieved a major milestone in his career. The 36-year-old off-spinner has gone on to claim his 700th International wicket after scalping Alzarri Joseph in India vs West Indies 1st Test. In terms of Indian bowlers, only Anil Kumble and Harbhajan Singh stand ahead of Ashwin in most international wickets.

Ravichandran Ashwin has been donning the Indian jersey for over a decade and is currently the number 1 ranked Test bowler and 2nd ranked all-rounder in the world. He has amassed 72 wickets In T20s, 151 wickets in ODIs, and a whopping 477 wickets in Test cricket. Though his days are over in the shortest format of the game, he continues to showcase his masterclass in red-ball cricket.

While Ashwin might not be in favour of the Indian team in white ball cricket, but his performances over the last decade speaks volume about the impact that he had on the Indian team. In terms of most international wickets for Indians, Anil Kumble tops the charts with 956 wickets and Harbhajan Singh with 711 wickets.
Since making his debut Ashwin in June of 2010, no other player has gone on to pick 650+ wickets in international cricket. Kiwi pacer Tim Southee comes close with 636 wickets having played 28 more matches.
Coming to the Test match between India vs West Indies, Ashwin’s bowling changed the entire complexion of the game. He scalped 4 wickets to break the backbone of the Caribbean side.
