Mike Tyson Career

In 2005, Mike Tyson made his initial boxing retirement. However, Tyson decided to come back 15 years later. During the COVID-19 epidemic, he rediscovers his love for boxing and challenges Roy Jones Jr. in a one-off exhibition battle in November 2020. During a discussion, Mike Tyson once more admitted that his boxing career ended in September 2022, despite being promised upwards of $100 million.

Iron Mike in Boxing History

He is one of the all-time great heavyweight boxers. At age 20, he defeated Trevor Berbick to win his first gold medal. After consecutive knockouts of Michael Spinks and Larry Holmes, he became a household name. But Tyson started to experience problems outside the ring, which led to his slide inside. Despite only being 30 years old when he first met Evander Holyfield in 1996, the heavyweight champion was already in the latter stages of his professional career.

The former heavyweight champion decided to retire less than ten years later. Kevin McBride was Tyson’s final opponent in 2005, and despite having the advantage on the scorecards, the great opted to call it quits midway through the contest. With that, a storied career came to a screeching halt.

Return of the legendary boxer: Mike Tyson

In November 2020, the 56-year-old returned to the ring for the Triller pay-per-view. Tyson was scheduled to fight Roy Jones Jr. in an exhibition bout that lasted eight rounds as the main event. Even though that match ended in a draw, Tyson received credit for his efforts. After that, Tyson was once more the topic of the boxing world and made jokes about returning to the ring. Since then, the former heavyweight champion has been associated with fights against Jake Paul and Logan.

But those pairings haven’t happened, and it seems unlikely they will ever. The 56-year-old said his boxing career is made in a recent interview with NewsMax, despite receiving offers of up to $100 million.

He said, “The boys want to fight with me for $100,000,000, but I don’t think I’ll ever do that again. I only wanted to do it for fun and enjoyment the first time. Then the pleasure was ended since other individuals took him to another level and wanted him for money.”
