Bob Sapp, Steve Austin, and many more people were on Mike Tyson’s fighting radar before fans provoked a clash between the boxing heavyweight stalwart and UFC veteran Ken Shamrock. Fight fans considered Ken Shamrock the no.1 fighter in the world for several years ad even wanted to see him face Mike Tyson. Nevertheless, that fantasy clash never happened.
After several years of the Tyson vs. Shamrock rumors, former UFC super weight champion Ken Shamrock connected with the media and shed views on the potential bout.
He said, “I have heard about it but nothing from him and nothing from me either. It was just talk. I ain’t crazy, right? I mean I know how good Mike is with his boxing so if I was to box him and not to say- I don’t have a problem doing that because I love to fight but I am not stupid enough to realize that, hey, I am gonna go out and outbox Mike Tyson because I can’t but I hope he realize the same thing and he wouldn’t be stupid to realize he could take me in an MMA fight because that wouldn’t happen either.”
Ken Shamrock further explained how he could have vanquished Mike Tyson in MMA, while Mike Tyson would have turned the tables for him in a boxing bout.
Ken Shamrock continued, “In the world that I live in, trying to hit somebody when they are trying to take you down, if you happen to do hit them, you don’t got no power. There’s no power when you are shooting on somebody and your timing is way off, you are not able to turn your hips over, you can’t really get under it. So, it’s very difficult to catch somebody when they are doing a low shot on you and be able to hurt them. So it would be a rough night for Mike but if it was boxing, it would be a rough night for me.”
