When Luke Rockhold abruptly interrupted his bout with Mike Perry in the midst of the second round on Saturday, the main event of Bare Knuckle FC 41 came to an unexpected conclusion.
Luke Rockhold said in a video that it’s a shame that the fight had to end the way it did.
At the 1:15 mark of the second frame, when Rockhold glanced at the referee and indicated that something was wrong with his mouth—his lower lip appeared to be badly cut—referee Dan Miragliotta stopped the fight.
Rockhold stated he isn’t done fighting despite his most recent defeat, but the next time around he wants some protection for his hands.

I’m not done. Some gloves would be nice, though.”
The reason Rockhold couldn’t continue, according to BKFC President David Feldman, was because his “teeth got messed up pretty good.”
It was anticipated that a lot of resentment between Perry and Rockhold would come to the surface during their light-heavyweight fight. Rockhold was making his BKFC debut when he pulled his mouthpiece out and quit, realizing the world of bare-knuckle fighting wasn’t for him.
