Michael Chandler Opens Up After Conor McGregor’s 2023 Return Called Off

Michael Chandler Opens Up After Conor McGregor’s 2023 Return Called Off

Chandler says that he is financially secure and is not under any immediate time constraints.

Michael Chandler won’t give up on Conor McGregor, but if they don’t engage in combat at some time, he will.

After coaching Season 31 of “The Ultimate Fighter,” Chandler (23-8 MMA, 2-3 UFC) and McGregor (22-6 MMA, 10-4 UFC) are scheduled to square off. “The Notorious” has been absent because he hasn’t rejoined the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) testing pool.

When USADA reaffirmed that McGregor must not only re-enter the testing pool but also submit at least two clean drug tests over the course of a six-month period in order to be cleared to participate, McGregor threw doubt on a return in December at UFC 296.

Conor McGregor’s 2023 Return Called Off Leads To Michael Chandler Opening Up

Conor McGregor now suggests that he could not be permitted to compete until early next year, designing his dreams of returning to the UFC in December. Since breaking his leg in a trilogy bout against Dustin Poirer in July 2021, “The Notorious” has not participated in an octagon competition.

He and Michael Chandler competed against each other as coaches in season 31 of The Ultimate Fighter, therefore it was anticipated that he would make his long-awaited comeback against Chandler at UFC 296. But there is presently no headliner for the concert, which is slated to take place on December 16 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Later, Conor announced again that he will not be able to fight until 2024. To this, Michael Chandler told the reporters:

“I can fight him tomorrow. I’m ready to fight tomorrow,” But I’m also not hurting. … I think every single day, everything changes with time and circumstance. Where we are, where we’ll be tonight after the fights, where we’ll be next week after the next fights, where we’ll be after the title fight in October – things change all the time. I haven’t really thought about a deadline. I’ve got a loose deadline in my head that I’m not going to share with you, but we’ll flirt with that whenever we figure it out.”

Although he claims to be a prizefighter, Chandler says that he is financially secure and is not under any immediate time constraints.

“I’m in a good position. It’s a constant talking between my management and the UFC, UFC talking to Conor and his team I’m sure – so we’re figuring this thing out. We’re treading lightly, and the information comes in slower than I want it to, more slower than you guys want it to, but it’s the way it’s happening, and it’s going to be Chandler vs. McGregor and it’s going to be fun.”

Chandler has no problem with McGregor receiving an exemption from USADA since it has happened in the past.
