MI vs CSK Head-To-Head: The past record in numbers
The rivalry between these Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings is labelled as IPL El Classico, given the magnitude of the contest. The two teams share nine IPL titles between them. Mumbai and Chennai have played a total of 36 matches against each other in the IPL so far. Mumbai is currently dominating the list with 21 wins from 36 matches. CSK, on the other hand has managed to win 15 matches. The rivalry was touch and go till 2019, but in the past three seasons, Mumbai has extended its dominance over CSK.
The first match between the two teams was played in 2008 where CSK defeated MI in the high-scoring encounter by six runs. MS Dhoni-led CSK batted first and put a big total of 208 runs on the board, Harbhajan Singh’s MI scored 202 runs and felt short just by three runs.
