The debate over the greatest football player of all time rages on. Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo both have dedicated fanbases that can go to any length to prove their respective idol’s supremacy. However, now Kylian Mbappe has had his say on the topic, and the revelation has one set of fans going over the moon.
Kylian Mbappe is one of the brightest prospect of world football at the moment. The French man already has a World Cup, a Golden Boot and several Ligue 1 titles to his name at the tender age of 24.
Mbappe’s love for Cristiano Ronaldo is well-documented by his father Wilfried. Wilfried in 2016 claimed CR7 ‘was everything’ to Mbappe.
“Cristiano Ronaldo is literally everything to Kylian Mbappe. If you mention Lionel Messi against Cristiano, Mbappe will debate with you for at least an hour. For him, Cristiano is untouchable,” Wilfried had said back in 2016.
However, Mbappe’s opinion has now seemingly changed.

“I love Cristiano, I was a big fan of him when I was young. But I start to learn, Messi (is great) too because when you are a big fan of Cristiano when you are young you can’t see how Messi is good because you love Cristiano. But I grew up and I love both now,” Mbappe has said in a recent video.
This video has sparked quite a bit of banter among fans who have welcomed the France forward’s comments. One fan commented, “Maturity is realising Messi is the greatest.”
Another fan said, “Now let’s watch insecure Ronaldo fanboys cry about this.”
