Messi Iniesta: Andres Iniesta and Lionel Messi have played together for over 14 seasons at Barcelona. While Iniesta left La Blaugrana in 2018, Messi left 3 years later in 2021. The two players created history during their time at the club. After spending 2 seasons at PSG, there was a chance of Messi coming back to Barcelona. However, the World Cup winner snubbed La Blaugrana and chose to move to Inter Miami. Iniesta has spoken up regarding the matter and called it the “best option.”

Lionel Messi left Barcelona in 2021 due to the club’s severe financial issues which they are yet to solve. He then joined PSG where he was not ready to shift. He had to accommodate his family in a rush which was stressful for both him and his family. Messi was also unhappy during his 2 year stint at the club. This transfer window, he had a chance to come back to Barcelona, but he chose to move to the MLS side Inter Miami.
Messi’s former teammate Andres Iniesta spoke up about this move during an interview with DAZN and said, “It would have been nice, special for what it means, but in the end, everyone looks for the best option, what they think will be good for them and, from there, they will probably live a different experience to what they have lived before. If it’s what he was looking forward to and what he wanted, I’m sure it will go well, as he did well in all the places he’s been.”
Messi had offers from Barcelona and the Saudi club Al-Hilal alongside Inter Miami. He revealed during the interview where he announced his move to Inter Miami that he wanted to come back to Barcelona. That was his first choice, but as per Messi, there were several complicated factors other than Barcelona and him wanting to agree terms. As a result, he did not want to go through the similar stress he had to go through during his PSG move. Hence, he chose to move across the continent to the United States.

This news could come as a heartbroken news for his former teammate Iniesta. However, Iniesta only had best wishes for the Aargentine. The two share a special bond from playing 512 games together. They have an amazing 70% win percentage together. Along with countless trophies, they created history by winning the treble twice. The two remain irreplaceable at the club, but Barcelona are still bringing in similar youth talents to fill the voids. Youngsters like Pedri and Gavi have already become 2 of the current team’s most important players.
Many people have even gone on to say that with proper growth, Pedri could one day fill Iniesta’s shoes at Barcelona. Regarding the talented young man, Iniesta said, “As young as he is, he is already a reference point, an important person in the team with a lot of influence in the game and, surely, this evolution that he has had during this time will continue. He is in the best team to continue growing and I am convinced that he will have another great season.”
