Max Verstappen Wins Japanese GP as Red Bull secure 6th Constructors’ Title

Max Verstappen put on a dominant show at the Japanese GP to win by almost 20 seconds. With this win, Red Bull secured their 6th Constructors’ Title.

Red Bull and Max Verstappen had claimed the 2023 Formula 1 season as their own since the beginning. It was only a matter of time before they won the championship. At the Japanese GP, Red Bull have managed to win the first of two titles this season. Despite Sergio Perez retiring from the Japanese GP, Max Verstappen secured enough points to seal the deal.

How They Did It at the Japanese GP?

Coming into the Japanese GP, Red Bull needed to outscore Mercedes by 1 point and not be outscored by Ferrari by 24 points. Given how the 2023 Formula 1 season had gone, this already looked very unlikely. However, you still need to go out there and seal the deal.

Max Verstappen looked to do exactly that. After a disappointing Singapore GP, Max Verstappen was eager to right the wrongs at the Japanese GP. He put his Red Bull on pole by more than half a second, and waltzed home with a 20-second advantage over second place.

Max Verstappen also secured the fastest lap, making it 26 points in total. Meanwhile, Sergio Perez had an incident-filled race and retired from the Japanese GP. However, Max’s points alone were enough on a day on which Ferrari and Mercedes battled for third best.

Red Bull’s 2023 Formula 1 Season

The Japanese GP was just a marker on an incredible season that Red Bull and Max Verstappen have put together. They have won every single race of the season except Singapore. Max Verstappen himself has won 13, while Sergio Perez has 2 wins as well. Red Bull has won all the sprint races so far as well.

As it stands currently, Max Verstappen has more points than Mercedes who are second in the standings. This just shows how dominant Red Bull have been. They have been on top with their car, their pit stops, their strategy, and their driver. The only weak link they have had this season is Sergio Perez. And he is still 2nd in the drivers’ standings.
