Mason Mount: Mason Mount has joined Manchester United from Chelsea on a £60 million deal. The Red Devils have completed their first signing of this transfer window as they brought on Mount on a 5-year long deal. At Man United, Mount will earn more than double the amount he was earning at Chelsea. The importance of the player at Man United became more clear as he has been given the iconic No. 7 Jersey. The number has previously been worn by George Best, David Beckham, Cristiano Ronaldo, and more.

Manchester United were trying to bring in Mount for quite some time. They presented Chelsea with several offers and all were rejected. That is until the fifth offer presented by man united which was worth £55 million plus £5 million in add-ons. Chelsea accepted the deal and the Red Devils had agreed terms with Mount as well. Mount will be joining on a 5-year long deal with an option to trigger another additional year. At the age of 24 years, Mount is yet to reach his peak.
Hence, bringing the midfielder at this point in time with such a long term deal can bear fruit for Manchester United. Mount will be earning a salary of £250,000 per week. The amount is quite an improvement from his £80,000 per week salary at Chelsea. The salary is not the only thing that shows how important he is being considered at Man United. Already providing him with a huge responsibility, the Red Devils have given the midfielder the iconic No.7 shirt.
The number was last worn by Cristiano Ronaldo who left the club in January, this year. Having to fill Ronaldo’s shoes will already be a lot of pressure. However, that pressure increases manifolds when the names of other legendary players who also wore the number come up. Club legends like George Best, Erik Cantona, Bryan Robson, and David Beckham have donned this number previously. At Chelsea, Mount was assigned the no.19 shirt which is being occupied by Raphael Varane at Man United.

However, many believe that Mount can do justice by the number he has been given. She is a highly energetic player with amazing skills during dead ball situations. Man United coach Erik Ten Hag has been hugely influential in this transfer as Mount discussed his future with him before signing. Ten Hag provided him with a clear vision of their plans to win more trophies. Additionally Mount also understood that he will be important to the team. He could help Man United win more in European and domestic competitions.
Joining the Red Devils, Mount made a statement saying, “Everyone can see that the club has made big steps forward under Erik ten Hag. Having met with the manager and discussed his plans, I couldn’t be more excited for the seasons ahead, and am ready for the hard work expected here. I am hugely ambitious; I know how amazing it feels to win major trophies and what it takes to do it. I will be giving everything to experience that again at Manchester United.”
